1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine)

2. REMOVE EGR PIPE ASSEMBLY

3. DISCONNECT NO. 8 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

4. DISCONNECT NO. 9 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

5. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE

6. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE

7. REMOVE PURGE VALVE WITH NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS PIPE

8. REMOVE PURGE VALVE (PURGE VSV)

Inspection

INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT PURGE VALVE (PURGE VSV)

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
1 - 2	20°C (68°F)	23 to 26 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the purge valve (purge VSV).

(b) Apply auxiliary battery voltage between the terminals of the purge valve (purge VSV) and check that the following occurs when blowing air into the port (E). Standard: Condition Specified Condition Auxiliary battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Air flows from port (F) Auxiliary battery voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2 Air does not flow If the result is not as specified, replace the purge valve (purge VSV).

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL PURGE VALVE (PURGE VSV)

Torque:

3.4 N·m {35 kgf·cm, 30 in·lbf}

2. INSTALL PURGE VALVE WITH NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS PIPE

Torque:

28 N·m {286 kgf·cm, 21 ft·lbf}

3. CONNECT NO. 2 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE

4. CONNECT NO. 1 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE

5. CONNECT NO. 9 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

6. CONNECT NO. 8 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

*c	180 deg	*d	2 to 7 mm (0.0787 to 0.276 in.)

(1) Connect the No. 8 water by-pass hose to the No. 3 water by-pass pipe and slide the clip to secure it.

HINT:

Engage the clip within the area shown in the illustration.

7. INSTALL EGR PIPE ASSEMBLY

8. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine)

9. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Engine)

10. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK

(a) If gas is leaking, tighten the areas necessary to stop the leak. Replace damaged parts as necessary.

HINT:

Perform "Inspection After Repairs" after repairing or replacing the exhaust system.
