REMOVAL

NOTICE:

If the front seat airbag assembly has been deployed, replace the front seat airbag assembly, front seatback frame sub-assembly, separate type front seatback pad, separate type front seatback cover with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

When the cable is disconnected / reconnected to the auxiliary battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.

PROCEDURE

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:

After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY

3. REMOVE FRONT OUTER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER

4. REMOVE FRONT INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER

5. REMOVE REAR OUTER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER

6. REMOVE INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER

7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY

(1) Using a T50 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts on the rear side of the front seat assembly.

(2) Operate the slide and vertical power seat switch knob and move the front seat assembly to the rearmost position.

(3) Using a T50 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts on the front side of the front seat assembly.

(4) Operate the reclining power seat switch knob and move the seatback to the upright position.

(5) Operate the slide and vertical power seat switch knob and move the front seat assembly to the center position.

(6) Operate the slide and vertical power seat switch knob and move the front seat assembly to the uppermost position.

(7) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(8) Disconnect the front seat airbag assembly connector under the front seat assembly.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(9) Disconnect each connector and disengage each clamp under the front seat assembly.

(1) Remove the front seat assembly.

NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the Toyota Prius vehicle body.

4. REMOVE POSITION CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (w/ Seat Position Memory System)

5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT FRONT CUSHION SHIELD

Remove in this Direction (1)

Remove in this Direction (2)

(1) Remove the clip.

(2) Disengage the guide as shown in the illustration.

(3) Disengage the 2 claws as shown in the illustration.

(4) Disengage the 2 guides to remove the front seat front cushion shield.

6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD

Remove in this Direction (1)

Remove in this Direction (2)

(1) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disengage the claw and slightly pull the front seat cushion shield as shown in the illustration.

(2) Disengage the 2 claws.

(3) Disengage the 2 claws and 2 guides.

(4) Disengage the guide as shown in the illustration.

(5) Disconnect the front power seat switch connector to remove the front seat cushion shield.

7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER CUSHION SHIELD

Remove in this Direction (2)

(1) Disengage the 2 claws and 2 guides as shown in the illustration.

(2) Disengage the 2 claws to remove the front seat inner cushion shield as shown in the illustration.

8. REMOVE SLIDE AND VERTICAL POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB

(1) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws to remove the slide and vertical power seat switch knob.

9. REMOVE RECLINING POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB

(1) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws to remove the reclining power seat switch knob.

10. REMOVE SEAT ADJUSTER SHIELD CLAMP BRACKET

11. REMOVE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH

(2) Disengage the clamp. (w/ Seat Heater System)

(3) Remove the separate type front seatback cover with pad as shown in the illustration.

(1) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 15 claws and remove the separate type front seatback cover from the separate type front seatback pad as shown in the illustration.

(a) Check the operation of the slide motor.

(1) Check that the seat cushion moves forward and backward smoothly when the auxiliary battery is connected to the slide motor connector terminals.

2. INSPECT FRONT SEATBACK FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Check the operation of the reclining motor.

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY

(1) Place the front seat assembly in the cabin.

NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the Toyota Prius vehicle body.

(1) Connect the front seat airbag assembly connector under the front seat assembly.

NOTICE:

When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

HINT:

Refer to How to Connect or Disconnect Airbag Connector.

(2) Connect each connector and engage each clamp under the front seat assembly.

(3) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

(4) Insert the location pin of the front seat assembly on the seat rail front side into the hole on the Toyota Prius vehicle side.

(5) Temporarily install the front seat assembly with the 4 bolts.

(6) Operate the slide and vertical power seat switch knob and move the front seat assembly to the rearmost position.

(7) Using a T50 "TORX" socket wrench, tighten the 2 bolts on the front side of the front seat assembly.

Torque:

37 N·m {377 kgf·cm, 27 ft·lbf}

NOTICE:

Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

(8) Operate the slide and vertical power seat switch knob and move the front seat assembly to the foremost position.

(9) Using a T50 "TORX" socket wrench, tighten the 2 bolts on the rear side of the front seat assembly.

Torque:

37 N·m {377 kgf·cm, 27 ft·lbf}

NOTICE:

Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
