HINT:
When the cable is disconnected / reconnected to the auxiliary battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.

PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY

2. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
(1) Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
(2) Using SST, remove the engine coolant temperature sensor from the water outlet.
SST: 09817-33191
NOTICE:
If the engine coolant temperature sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.
(3) Remove the gasket from the engine coolant temperature sensor.

1. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
CAUTION:
(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance:
NOTICE: If checking the engine coolant temperature sensor in water, be careful not to allow water to contact the terminals. After checking, wipe the water off the engine coolant temperature sensor. If the result is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor. |

PROCEDURE
1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
(1) Install a new gasket to the engine coolant temperature sensor.
(2) Using SST, install the engine coolant temperature sensor to the water outlet.
SST: 09817-33191
Torque:
19.6 N·m {200 kgf·cm, 14 ft·lbf}
NOTICE:
If the engine coolant temperature sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.
(3) Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
2. INSTALL EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY
